whether和if的区别

　　一、意思不同

　　whether表示两种情况都真实，是什么还是，或者，不管。if与will或would连用，表示客气地请求，不确定的情况。

　　二、侧重点不同

　　whether可引导表语从句，if则不能。whether可用在介词之后，引导宾语从句，而If则不能。

　　Whether和if在从句中的使用方法

　　1、在动词不定式之前只能用whether。

　　例子：I can’t decide whether to stay.我不能决定是否留下。

　　2、if引导宾语从句：I don't know if he will come to help us or not；if引导条件状语从句：You will do better if you are more careful；if引导其他状语从句，构成固定短语搭配。

　　3、在介词后,只能用whether。

　　例子：His father is worried about whether he lose his work.他的父亲担心是否会失去工作。

　　4、宾语从句放在句首表示强调时,只能用whether。Whether they can finish the work on time is still a problem.他们是否能准时完成这项工作还是个问题。
